Chapped lips are commonly caused by dry weather, deficiencies in trace elements, or vitamin deficiencies. Consuming excessive amounts of certain fresh vegetables may lead to vitamin B2 deficiency, contributing to lip dryness. During dry weather, avoid licking your lips with your tongue, as this can exacerbate dryness. Instead, first apply a warm, damp towel to the lips for heat therapy, then apply a lip balm. For more severe cases, urea ointment may be used to soften keratinized skin. If there is exudate from fissures or wounds, roxithromycin ointment may be applied for treatment. Additionally, increasing intake of foods rich in vitamins is recommended.
