Disease description:

The wind was very strong yesterday, and the baby’s window was left open while sleeping. Today, the baby developed a wind-cold type of common cold. I would like to know whether Xiao’er Chiqiao Qingre Granules are appropriate for treating wind-cold common cold in infants.

Children with wind-cold type common cold should not take this medication. This is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation in clinical practice and is suitable—and highly effective—for children with wind-heat type common cold. Wind-cold common cold is primarily caused by invasion of cold air into the infant’s body; treatment should therefore focus on warming the body and releasing the exterior to dispel internal cold, thereby achieving therapeutic goals. It is recommended that infants be given TCM patent medicines such as Wind-Cold Common Cold Granules, Tongxuan Lipei Pills, or Jiwei Qianghuo Pills to alleviate cold symptoms.
