Symptoms of Precocious Puberty in Boys
Disease description:
The child is nine years old this year. Generally speaking, do children of this age experience precocious puberty? What are the associated symptoms, and what are the signs of early puberty in boys?
Typically, testicular volume increases, the penis lengthens and thickens, and the child’s laryngeal prominence (Adam’s apple) becomes more prominent. Axillary and pubic hair also begin to appear. Additionally, rapid increases in height and weight occur; however, clinical manifestations may vary among individuals. Early male puberty results from abnormal hormonal levels and therefore requires timely prevention and treatment to avoid adverse effects on final adult height.
