How to Self-Examine for Tonsil Stones
Disease description:
I’ve recently experienced a sensation of a foreign body in my throat and bad breath, and I suspect it may be caused by tonsil stones. How can I self-examine for tonsil stones?
Self-examination for tonsil stones can be performed visually. Tonsil stones are typically located in the tonsillar crypts and appear as white, granular deposits accompanied by a strong, foul odor. Small tonsil stones may be removed using tweezers; however, if removal is unsuccessful—often due to larger stone size—the patient should seek prompt medical evaluation.
