What does HBV DNA testing mean?
Disease description:
I was diagnosed with hepatitis B, and today I came to the hospital for tests. The doctor said I also need a hepatitis B DNA test—what does “hepatitis B DNA test” mean?
HBV DNA testing measures the quantity of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in the body. HBV DNA is not only a critical indicator for diagnosing hepatitis B and assessing treatment efficacy during therapy, but also reflects the degree of infectivity and serves as an important marker for evaluating the effectiveness of antiviral treatment. Generally, if HBV DNA levels are normal or undetectable, the individual is considered a simple hepatitis B carrier. Conversely, markedly elevated HBV DNA levels indicate higher infectivity.
