Anal fissures can cause itching. An anal fissure is a longitudinal ulcer extending from the dentate line to the anal verge; in some cases, it may extend deep into the sphincter muscle layer. This condition can lead to perianal mucus secretion, resulting in symptoms such as perianal eczema and pruritus ani. Treatment options—including sitz baths, perianal fumigation and washing, and topical application of hemorrhoid ointments—can effectively relieve and resolve the associated itching.
