A sensation of heat in one ear is typically caused by inflammation or similar factors. If the aforementioned symptoms occur, they may indicate an inflammatory response, leading to localized skin congestion and swelling in the ear—causing the patient to feel warmth in the ear. Such symptoms may also arise in excessively hot environments; because the skin of the auricle is relatively thin and rich in capillaries, elevated ambient temperatures can trigger capillary dilation, thereby increasing local skin temperature and producing the sensation of ear heat.
