Dry, flaky skin inside the ear is commonly caused by local dehydration, infection, or other factors. Dry skin on the outer ear may result from general skin dryness; therefore, it is advisable to apply a topical ointment under a physician’s guidance to improve the condition. It may also be due to a fungal infection. In such cases, a fungal examination—often revealing mild dandruff-like scaling in the ear—can be performed. Treatment for this type of desquamation typically involves topical antifungal medications.
