I’ve had a runny nose and nasal congestion for some time and assumed it was a common cold. After visiting the hospital, I was diagnosed with sinusitis. I have levofloxacin at home—can I take it for sinusitis?

Generally, this approach is acceptable—but only for patients with mild symptoms, as it can help promote the drainage of secretions. For patients with more severe disease, endoscopic sinus surgery may be indicated. During treatment, proper nasal cavity management is essential: maintain nasal hygiene and cleanliness, and avoid digging the nose with fingers, as this may lead to bacterial infection or damage to the nasal mucosa.
