Why Poor Sleep Causes Tinnitus
Disease description:
Stress-induced tinnitus is often accompanied by frequent insomnia. Why does poor sleep cause tinnitus?
Insufficient sleep prevents the central nervous system from obtaining adequate rest, thereby triggering tinnitus. Tinnitus has numerous potential causes, yet its exact etiology is often difficult to determine. It is associated with factors such as decreased immune function, excessive fatigue, noise exposure, and viral infections. Inadequate sleep compromises immunity, leading to microvascular spasm in the inner ear and increasing susceptibility to viral infection. These changes impair normal cellular function, resulting in tinnitus and hearing loss.
