Recently, I’ve experienced mild hyperthyroidism symptoms, and my doctor prescribed methimazole. Can methimazole completely cure hyperthyroidism?

Taking methimazole does not necessarily lead to a complete cure of hyperthyroidism. Although methimazole is a medication used to treat hyperthyroidism, the treatment approach varies depending on the severity of the condition. Radioactive iodine-131 therapy may also be employed when hyperthyroid symptoms recur. In cases of particularly severe disease, surgery may be required to achieve a complete cure of hyperthyroidism.
