How Is Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) Transmitted?
Disease description:
My supervisor contracted conjunctivitis, saying he caught it from someone else. This was the first time I learned that conjunctivitis is contagious—how exactly is it transmitted?
Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is transmitted through direct contact. Once diagnosed, strict self-isolation is essential. Students and working individuals should take sick leave and stay away from schools or workplaces to prevent transmission to classmates or colleagues. To minimize the risk of infection, avoid contact with contaminated items and remain in a closed environment whenever possible. If only one eye is affected, take care to prevent tears from the infected eye from entering the unaffected eye while applying eye drops or ointment.
