What causes soreness and pain due to knee osteophyte formation?
Disease description:
I've been feeling soreness in my knees for the past couple of days. After a medical checkup, I found out I have knee osteophyte formation. What causes the pain and discomfort associated with knee osteophytes?
Knee pain and soreness due to bone spurs may result from aging and wear of the knee joint, leading to conditions such as bony overgrowth in the ligaments surrounding the knee. If a person suffers a fracture due to a fall or traffic accident, subsequent bone spur formation during healing may also cause knee pain and soreness. Additionally, if soft tissues around the knee joint are injured and undergo ossification or calcification, this could likewise lead to knee pain associated with bone spurs.
