Disease description:

Recently, I’ve developed numerous blisters on my hands and feet, accompanied by intense itching that makes me want to scratch them. My doctor diagnosed it as dyshidrotic eczema. I’m unsure whether dyshidrotic eczema is contagious to children. Could you please clarify: Is dyshidrotic eczema contagious?

Hello, Herpes simplex is not contagious and cannot be transmitted to others. Dyshidrotic eczema (also known as pompholyx) is an inflammatory skin condition primarily triggered by hot, humid environments and impaired sweating. It represents a distinct subtype of eczema, most commonly affecting the palms, lateral aspects of the fingers, and soles of the feet. Clinically, it is characterized by deep-seated vesicles—either clustered or scattered—within the epidermis; the surrounding skin appears normal in color. Within several days, the vesicles resolve, leading to dryness, scaling, and pruritus. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a pleasant and healthy life!
