Lip twitching may be caused by insufficient blood supply to the brain, facial neuritis, or other reasons. Lip tremors related to inadequate cerebral blood flow can be treated by managing conditions that cause brain ischemia and hypoxia, such as hypertension and diabetes. In addition, localized muscle tension disorders can also lead to lip trembling. Early facial neuritis may present as lip twitching, while facial muscle spasms are typically caused by vascular compression of the facial nerve.
