What is a filiform wart?
Disease description:
I developed filiform warts on my neck but didn’t pay much attention to them, assuming they would resolve spontaneously. Recently, I noticed a significant increase in their number. A few days ago, I visited the hospital, where the doctor said laser therapy is the only treatment option. I’m curious—what exactly are filiform warts?
Hello, filiform warts are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) and commonly occur on the eyelids, neck, and other areas. They appear as single, slender, soft, thread-like projections, typically skin-colored or brownish-gray. They are usually asymptomatic; however, when located on the eyelids, they may be associated with conjunctivitis or keratitis. Treatment options include microwave electrocautery, fractional carbon dioxide laser, or liquid nitrogen cryotherapy. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a pleasant and healthy life!
