What medication can be used to relieve itchy skin?
When skin itching occurs, appropriate medications can be selected based on symptoms to relieve the itch. Medications are mainly divided into two categories: oral and topical.
1. Oral medications:
- Western medicines: such as loratadine, chlorpheniramine maleate, and diphenhydramine hydrochloride. These drugs can suppress allergic reactions and alleviate itching.
- Traditional Chinese patent medicines: such as Fuyang Granules, Urticaria Pills, and Jinchán止痒 Granules. These have effects of clearing heat, detoxifying, and relieving itching.
2. Topical medications:
- Western medicines: such as fluocinonide acetate cream, compound acetic acid dexamethasone cream, and calamine lotion. These can act directly on the skin to reduce itching and relieve skin inflammation.
Please note that all the above medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor to avoid adverse reactions from self-medication.
