What is the basal body temperature after pregnancy?
Disease description:
I just found out I'm pregnant. I've heard that body temperature rises after pregnancy—could you tell me what the basal body temperature is after conception?
After pregnancy, a woman's basal body temperature will rise to some extent. The basal body temperature during pregnancy is generally around 37°C, typically not exceeding 37.3°C at the highest or dropping below 36.8°C at the lowest; temperatures within this range are considered normal. In non-pregnant women, basal body temperature is approximately 36.5°C. However, after conception, due to increased levels of progesterone and estrogen, basal body temperature rises by 0.3–0.5°C. During pregnancy, basal body temperature usually remains between 36.8°C and 37.2°C, although exact values may vary slightly among individuals. This temperature increase is a normal physiological phenomenon and generally not a cause for concern. However, if body temperature persistently exceeds 37.3°C after pregnancy or is accompanied by other discomfort symptoms, medical evaluation is recommended.
