Will jock itch spread to other areas?
Disease description:
I have jock itch, and my friend said it can spread to other areas. Can jock itch spread to other parts of the body?

Tinea cruris (jock itch) can potentially spread to other parts of the body. Tinea cruris is a fungal skin infection caused by fungi that are contagious. Its primary mode of transmission is through direct contact, including person-to-person transmission via contact with contaminated skin, or indirect transmission through contact with personal items of an infected individual, such as towels, clothing, etc. If personal hygiene is not maintained—for example, if one touches the affected area for a prolonged period and then frequently scratches other parts of the body with the same hand—the fungi may colonize locally and cause infections, leading to other fungal infections such as tinea manuum (hand癣) or tinea corporis (body ringworm).
