Why have so many pimples appeared on my face?
Disease description:
I've been really puzzled lately as my face has broken out with a lot of pimples, and my skin has become rough. Why have so many pimples appeared on my face?
The causes of developing numerous pimples on the face are multifaceted, mainly including:
1. **Oily skin**: Individuals with oily skin are more prone to pimples because the sebaceous glands produce excessive sebum, which can easily clog the hair follicles, leading to pimple formation.
2. **Improper diet**: Regular consumption of fried, greasy, or spicy foods, such as fried chicken and spicy strips, may cause excessive sebum secretion and increase the risk of pimples.
3. **Poor cleansing habits**: Inadequate skin cleansing or frequently squeezing pimples may promote bacterial proliferation and follicular blockage, thus triggering pimples.
4. **Facial infection**: Infection with bacteria such as *Cutibacterium acnes* (formerly *Propionibacterium acnes*) can also lead to pimple formation, and severe cases may develop into patchy infections.
5. **Endocrine disorders**: Fluctuations in hormone levels, such as during puberty, menstruation, or pregnancy, may increase sebum production by sebaceous glands, resulting in pimples. Particularly, excessive secretion of androgens can lead to overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands of the skin, thus triggering pimples.
