Normal value of urine routine pH
Disease description:
Recently, I have been experiencing difficulty urinating and decided to have a routine urinalysis done. I would like to ask, what is the normal pH value in a routine urinalysis?

The acidity or alkalinity of urine, commonly referred to as pH value, is an indicator of the acid-base balance in urine. Normally, the pH value of urine ranges between 4.5 and 8.0, although most individuals typically have urine pH values falling between 5.0 and 7.0. This range can vary depending on individual diet, medication use, and metabolic status. For example, a high-protein diet may cause urine to become more acidic, while certain medications or kidney diseases can affect the urine's pH level.
During routine urinalysis, doctors pay attention to the urine pH to assist in diagnosing certain diseases, such as urinary tract infections (which may make urine more alkaline), kidney stones (some types of stones are associated with specific urine pH levels), or metabolic disorders. If the urine pH consistently falls outside the normal range, further investigation may be necessary.
