What to do if bitten by a centipede
Disease description:
My boyfriend is 23 years old. This morning, while we were hiking together, he was accidentally bitten by a centipede. The centipede wasn't large, and the wound doesn't seem severe. We would like to provide initial treatment first, then go to the hospital. May I ask what should be done if bitten by a centipede?
After being bitten by a centipede, the following measures should be taken immediately:
1. Apply a tight bandage to the wound: Bind the affected area tightly with a bandage or cloth near the heart end to slow down the spread of venom.
2. Rinse the wound: Thoroughly wash the wound repeatedly with soap water, sodium bicarbonate solution, or clean water to neutralize the acidic venom and reduce skin irritation.
3. Remove the venomous fang: If the centipede's venomous fang remains in the wound, carefully remove it with a fine needle to prevent further injection of venom.
4. Apply cold compress: Use an ice pack or cold towel to apply cold compress to the wound, which helps reduce swelling and pain.
5. Seek medical treatment: Go to the hospital as soon as possible, especially if symptoms such as allergic reactions, increased redness and swelling, worsening pain, or fever occur. Further treatment should be conducted under a physician's instructions.
