Fever is usually a response by the body to infection or inflammation. The first step in managing fever is identifying its cause. To reduce fever quickly, physical cooling methods are recommended, such as wiping the body with lukewarm water or taking a warm bath, to help lower body temperature. Keep the environment well-ventilated and wear light, breathable clothing to prevent further temperature elevation. Additionally, maintain adequate hydration by drinking plenty of water, clear soups, or electrolyte beverages to prevent dehydration. If body temperature remains above 38.5°C, over-the-counter antipyretics such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen may be used to help relieve symptoms. In terms of daily care, it is important to get sufficient rest to aid recovery. The diet should consist of light, easily digestible foods, avoiding greasy or irritating foods. Monitor changes in symptoms closely, and if persistent high fever, severe headache, rapid breathing, rash, or other serious symptoms develop, seek medical attention promptly.
