Aspirin Enteric-coated Tablets Function
Recently, my arthritis flared up, causing pain in my legs and feet. My doctor prescribed enteric-coated aspirin tablets. I would like to ask the doctor, what are the effects of enteric-coated aspirin tablets?
Aspirin enteric-coated tablets are a commonly used over-the-counter medication, primarily containing acetylsalicylic acid, and have the following functions:
1. Analgesic and antipyretic: When the body experiences headaches, toothaches, joint pain, or fever caused by a cold, aspirin can relieve pain and reduce body temperature.
2. Anti-inflammatory: It can inhibit inflammatory responses and help alleviate chronic inflammation caused by various factors, such as rheumatoid arthritis.
3. Antiplatelet aggregation: It prevents platelets from clumping together, thereby reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke. Long-term use at low doses serves as secondary prevention for cardiovascular diseases.
4. Treatment of myocardial infarction: During an acute myocardial infarction, aspirin can rapidly inhibit platelet function, helping to quickly open blocked coronary arteries and reduce myocardial damage.
Although aspirin offers multiple benefits, it is not suitable for everyone. It is recommended to use it under the guidance of a physician.
