Can closed comedones be treated with facial steaming?

I’ve been feeling unwell all over the past two days and was thinking of taking a shower followed by a sauna session. However, I currently have several closed comedones on my face. I’d like to ask: Is it safe to do facial steaming when you have closed comedones? Could it cause any adverse effects?

Firstly, the formation of closed comedones (whiteheads) is relatively complex. To treat them effectively, it’s essential to identify the underlying cause and address it accordingly. Secondly, facial steaming is not recommended for closed comedones. While steaming is primarily intended to hydrate the skin, closed comedones mainly result from clogged pores and hormonal imbalances—conditions that steaming does not resolve. Therefore, facial steaming offers minimal therapeutic benefit for closed comedones.
