Forehead acne, medically known as facial acne, is mainly caused by the following factors: 1. Excess oil: The forehead is part of the T-zone, which contains a high density of sebaceous glands, making it prone to excessive oil production. Excess sebum can lead to clogged pores and the formation of acne. 2. Hot and humid environment: A hot, humid environment can cause excessive sweating on the forehead. When sweat mixes with oil on the skin's surface, it can block pores and promote the development of acne. 3. Excessive sebum production: Hormonal fluctuations during puberty, especially androgens, can stimulate sebaceous glands to become overactive, producing excess sebum that clogs pores and leads to acne formation. 4. Abnormal follicular keratinization: Abnormal metabolism of keratinocytes at the follicular opening accelerates the buildup of dead skin cells, obstructing the release of sebum and creating an environment conducive to the proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes. 5. Bacterial infection: Propionibacterium acnes can multiply rapidly within blocked hair follicles, triggering an inflammatory response that results in red, swollen pimples.
