What can you eat when you have tonsillitis?
My tonsils have become inflamed again recently, and there are many foods I cannot eat. I would like to know what I can eat when my tonsils are inflamed.
When suffering from tonsillitis, the diet should primarily consist of light, easily digestible foods rich in vitamins and protein, while avoiding irritating foods. Specific recommendations are as follows:
1. Drink plenty of plain water: Limit consumption of sugary or stimulating beverages. Drinking more plain water helps maintain adequate hydration, which can relieve throat pain and reduce inflammation.
2. Increase vitamin C intake: Consume more fresh vegetables and fruits such as pears, apples, watermelons, tomatoes, and cucumbers. These foods help replenish vitamins, have a mild heat-clearing and anti-inflammatory effect, and enhance immunity.
3. Consume high-protein foods: Such as fish, lean meats, and soy products, which promote recovery. Noodles and millet porridge are also good choices as they are easy to digest and do not irritate the inflamed tonsils.
4. Avoid irritating foods: Such as spicy foods like chili peppers, mustard, and ginger, as well as greasy foods and seafood, which may exacerbate inflammation and throat pain.
