Causes of dry and tight lips include:

1. Environmental factors: In dry, cold, or windy conditions, or after prolonged time in air-conditioned rooms, moisture from the lips can easily evaporate, causing dryness and tightness.

2. Poor lifestyle habits: Frequently licking, biting the lips, or peeling lip skin with hands can irritate the lip mucosa and accelerate moisture loss.

3. Health-related issues: Deficiencies in B vitamins, insufficient iron levels, dehydration, skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or allergic reactions. Persistent dryness of the lips may also signal hormonal imbalances or chronic diseases.

4. Certain medical conditions such as cheilitis (lip inflammation), angular cheilitis (inflammation at the corners of the mouth), and diabetes can also lead to dry and tight lips. For example, individuals with diabetes may experience lip dryness due to dehydration caused by high blood glucose levels.

To relieve symptoms of dry and tight lips, it is recommended to improve lifestyle habits, avoid harmful behaviors, maintain adequate hydration, and use moisturizing lip balm appropriately. If symptoms persist or worsen, or if pain, bleeding, prolonged swelling, or signs of infection occur, prompt medical attention is advised.
