I have patches of keratosis pilaris on my arms. I’d like to ask: does keratosis pilaris resolve on its own?

Keratosis pilaris (commonly known as “chicken skin”) typically does not resolve spontaneously. This skin condition—medically termed keratosis pilaris—is predominantly hereditary. It results from excessive keratin buildup around hair follicles, leading to follicular plugging and the characteristic rough, bumpy skin texture. Without timely treatment, spontaneous resolution is unlikely. Patients may seek professional care at a reputable hospital’s dermatology department for laser therapy or chemical peels (e.g., glycolic acid peels). High-concentration glycolic acid helps exfoliate accumulated dead skin cells, thereby restoring smooth skin texture.
