In which part of the human body is the liver located?
Disease description:
I’ve been feeling some discomfort in my upper right abdomen. A friend suggested it might be a liver problem—where exactly is the liver located in the human body?
The liver is located in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen, on the anterior (ventral) surface of the right rib cage. It is covered by the right costal margin (rib arch), making it non-palpable during routine physical examination. The liver is the body’s largest detoxifying organ; if damaged, its detoxification function may be impaired, potentially leading to clinical manifestations such as jaundice. Maintain regular sleep patterns—avoid staying up late and excessive alcohol consumption.
