Hello, Clinically, an endometrioma is commonly referred to as a “chocolate cyst” of the ovary and is a form of endometriosis. During each menstrual period, the ectopic endometrial tissue within the cyst bleeds, causing the cyst to enlarge. Endometriomas are benign lesions; however, patients with large cysts require prompt surgical intervention. Postoperatively, patients must adhere strictly to prescribed medication regimens, as the risk of recurrence remains high without proper medical management. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you good health and happiness!
