Disease description:

I’ve recently been focusing on improving my physical health, as my wife and I plan to start trying to conceive in a couple of days. However, today I noticed that my ejaculate appears yellowish, and I’m concerned this might indicate an underlying medical condition. Could you please explain why semen may appear yellow?

Hello, normal semen is typically white or slightly yellowish. Persistent yellow discoloration of semen may indicate a blockage in the prostate gland, which can cause delayed or sluggish ejaculation, leading to yellowish semen. Yellow semen is often associated with prostate dysfunction—a relatively serious urological condition in men. Once present, it may lead to symptoms such as frequent and urgent urination, and may also adversely affect semen quality. Surgical treatment at a hospital may be recommended. Additionally, post-treatment care and lifestyle adjustments are essential for gradual recovery. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you good health and happiness!
