How long does one chemotherapy session last?
Disease description:
My husband has long suffered from poor gastric health and persistent Helicobacter pylori infection. Recent examinations revealed gastric cancer, and he is scheduled to begin chemotherapy soon. I would like to ask how long each chemotherapy session typically lasts.
Hello,
In general, a single chemotherapy session lasts 5–6 days, and one chemotherapy cycle spans 20 days. The next chemotherapy treatment begins only after completion of the current cycle. During chemotherapy, the oncologist will determine the total number of cycles based on the patient’s specific condition. Chemotherapy may cause certain adverse effects on the patient’s physical health; therefore, maintaining adequate nutritional intake throughout treatment is essential.
I hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health!
