Disease description:

Recently, my scalp has been itchy, and when I scratch it, lice fall off. I’m wondering how lice ended up on my head—would washing my hair daily help reduce them? It’s extremely uncomfortable, and I constantly feel something moving on my scalp. So I’d like to ask: where do head lice come from?

Hello, lice are parasitic insects that primarily inhabit hairy areas of the body; thus, they are classified according to their location as head lice, body lice, and pubic lice. Lice are contagious and can survive for approximately one to two days without a new host. Since lice crawl actively, prompt treatment is strongly recommended—especially in household settings. Bed sheets, pillowcases, and other linens should be washed in hot water and then thoroughly sun-dried. Conduct a thorough cleaning of your home to prevent further egg-laying by lice. If the infestation is severe, please consult a local healthcare provider. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a pleasant and healthy life!
