How long does ear pain last after rhinoplasty using auricular cartilage?
Disease description:
My nose looks somewhat unattractive, so I’m considering rhinoplasty using auricular cartilage grafts. However, I’ve heard that this procedure can cause significant ear pain. Could you please tell me how long the pain typically lasts and how long it takes for the ear to recover naturally?
Hello,
Typically, mild swelling and slight pain at the nasal area begin on the first day after auricular cartilage rhinoplasty. Swelling gradually subsides and pain lessens by the third day. By the end of the first week, both swelling and pain are significantly reduced. Due to the rich blood supply in the facial region, edema resolves relatively quickly; however, only cold compresses should be applied during this period to aid in reducing swelling.
The nose generally regains a natural appearance within 1–2 weeks postoperatively, and full recovery is usually achieved within 2–3 months. Complete natural recovery following rhinoplasty typically requires 2–3 months.
We hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health!
