Pupillary distance (PD) primarily refers to the distance between the centers of the two pupils. This measurement changes as a person ages and generally stabilizes in adulthood. PD differs between males and females: the average PD for males ranges from 60–73 mm, whereas for females it typically falls between 53–68 mm. Therefore, PD must be taken into account when fitting eyeglasses.
