What does a low monocyte percentage indicate?
Disease description:
Recently, I have been experiencing recurrent fevers. Upon hospital examination, my monocyte percentage was found to be low. What does a low monocyte percentage indicate?
A low monocyte percentage indicates a bacterial infection in the body. Monocytes normally constitute only a small proportion of white blood cells, and individuals typically experience no noticeable symptoms under normal circumstances. However, if inflammation caused by a bacterial infection is present, low-grade fever may occur. Additionally, a common cold induced by exposure to wind and cold may also lead to a decreased monocyte percentage.
