What Causes Spleen Pain?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve had a poor appetite and some pain in the area of the spleen. What could be causing splenic pain?
Spleen pain may result from disharmony between the spleen and stomach, leading to gastrointestinal symptoms. It can also be caused by splenic disorders such as splenic cysts or splenic infarction. Patients with kidney stones may also experience pain perceived in the spleen region. Additionally, external trauma—such as blunt abdominal injury—can cause splenic rupture and subsequent hemorrhage, resulting in pain. Individuals experiencing spleen pain should seek prompt medical attention. An abdominal ultrasound (B-mode ultrasound) of the spleen is recommended to identify the underlying cause, enabling targeted treatment to alleviate and resolve the splenic pain.
