Disease description:

This morning, while looking in the mirror, I noticed that the whites of my eyes appeared unusually pale, and my sclera (the white part of the eye) had a slight yellowish tint. What could cause yellowing of the sclera?

Yellowing of the sclera (the white part of the eye) may result from excessive eye fatigue—for example, from prolonged sleep deprivation or extended use of electronic devices—which can trigger ocular fatigue and subsequently cause yellow discoloration of the eyes. In more severe cases, underlying liver disease cannot be ruled out; for instance, hepatitis may lead to jaundice, manifesting as yellowing of the eyes.
