What does “sinus rhythm” mean?
Disease description:
Today, I went to the hospital for an electrocardiogram (ECG) examination. The ECG report states “sinus rhythm.” I have never had any heart-related issues before. Could you please explain what “sinus rhythm” means?
Hello,
Sinus rhythm is a normal heart rhythm. Only sinus rhythm ensures that the heart rate remains within the normal range, thereby enabling the heart to adequately supply blood to all organs. Every healthy individual has a sinus rhythm. If a person’s heart rhythm is no longer sinus in nature, it indicates an abnormal rhythm—potentially arrhythmia or another cardiac condition—which requires medical evaluation and treatment.
I hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health!
