What Causes Cold Intolerance?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve been feeling unusually cold for no apparent reason—I always wear more clothing than others, yet I still feel chilly. I’m worried it might be a sign of illness. What are the possible causes of feeling excessively cold or having cold intolerance?
Feeling cold and being sensitive to low temperatures may indicate abnormal thyroid function, but it could also stem from general physical weakness. When thyroid function is impaired—such as in hypothyroidism—thyroid hormone secretion becomes dysregulated, commonly resulting in cold intolerance. Similarly, constitutional weakness—particularly deficiencies in qi and blood—can also frequently manifest as cold sensitivity.
