In general, exposure to cold water after an abortion procedure may directly impair the woman’s postoperative recovery. However, it does not affect the volume of the next menstrual period. That said, the first menstruation following an abortion is often prolonged in duration—this is normal and should not cause excessive concern. It is advisable to take blood-activating and stasis-resolving medications for treatment. Additionally, adequate rest is essential after an abortion; sexual intercourse must be avoided for one month; and once the body has fully recovered, appropriate contraceptive measures should be implemented.
