Gallbladder polyps are typically classified into two types: adenomatous polyps and cholesterol polyps. Adenomatous polyps are benign tumors of the gallbladder; however, their exact etiology remains unclear. The other type—cholesterol polyps—develops due to excessive cholesterol in bile, leading to cholesterol precipitation and subsequent deposition on the gallbladder wall, initially forming cholesterol crystals within the gallbladder wall.
