What should I eat when experiencing tonsillitis and throat pain?
Disease description:
I frequently suffer from tonsillitis, sometimes accompanied by pain. What foods are recommended when experiencing inflammation and pain in the tonsils?
Tonsils frequently become inflamed; therefore, anti-inflammatory and anti-infective medications should be taken orally under a physician’s guidance. It is important to drink plenty of water and consume ample fresh vegetables and fruits. Avoid “heat-inducing” foods (e.g., spicy, fried, or overly rich foods) and other irritants. For recurrent or chronic tonsillitis, surgical removal (tonsillectomy) may be considered—this can significantly reduce the frequency of future infections. After surgery, maintain wound hygiene carefully. Approximately one week postoperatively, focus on nutritional support and recovery, while continuing to practice good oral hygiene. Diet should remain light and bland during this period.
