High-altitude reaction affects blood pressure.
Disease description:
After traveling to a high-altitude area, I developed altitude sickness and frequently feel dizzy, with mild hypoxia and slightly elevated blood pressure. Does altitude sickness affect blood pressure?
This condition does have an impact—particularly in individuals with pre-existing hypertension—as hypoxia can lead to elevated blood pressure, resulting in symptoms such as dizziness and palpitations. If blood pressure is high, antihypertensive medications should be actively taken to maintain blood pressure within the normal range. It is recommended that you visit the Department of Cardiology at a hospital for blood pressure monitoring and relevant diagnostic tests to establish a definitive diagnosis; treatment—including medication—should then be carried out under the guidance of a physician. Maintain a light diet, ensure adequate rest, and avoid overexertion.
