Hand dermatophytosis (tinea manuum) is contagious.
Disease description:
My hands are peeling and extremely itchy. The doctor diagnosed me with a Candida fungal infection. I’m worried it might spread to my husband—can hand Candida infections be contagious?
Candida fungal infection of the hands is contagious. Candidiasis exhibits a certain degree of transmissibility; therefore, prompt diagnosis and treatment are essential. Topical antifungal medications are commonly used for management. In most cases of candidal infection, topical application of clotrimazole cream (e.g., Canesten®) is effective. Given its contagious nature, avoid scratching the affected area or touching other body parts with the infected hand. Systemic or topical antifungal therapy should be selected based on clinical assessment.
