Can children drink Xiao’er Qixing Tea when they have a fever?

Disease description:

The baby has seemed to have a rather severe case of “internal heat” (a traditional Chinese medicine concept) over the past few days: thick tongue coating, oral odor, infrequent bowel movements (every two to three days), foul-smelling and dry stools, and noticeable straining during defecation—often with a sensation of incomplete evacuation. Additionally, the baby sleeps restlessly at night. Today, the baby developed a mild fever. Seeing that we have Xiao’er Qixing Cha (Pediatric Seven-Star Tea) at home, I’d like to ask whether it is safe to give this tea to the baby while he/she has a fever.

Yes, “Qixing Tea” (a traditional Chinese herbal remedy) has certain therapeutic effects for treating the common cold. It can help alleviate symptoms in children such as wind-cold invasion (a TCM pattern of common cold), cough, food stagnation, and restlessness or disturbed sleep at night. Ensure the child drinks plenty of water and urinates frequently to promote metabolism and assist in reducing fever. Physical cooling methods may also be employed—gently wipe the child’s armpits, groin, palms, and neck with a warm, damp towel. Additionally, encourage regular outdoor activities for the child.
