Can people with diabetes eat peaches?
Disease description:
My neighbor brought over many peaches grown in their own garden, but I have high blood sugar and am hesitant to eat them. May people with diabetes consume peaches?
Peaches are rich in vitamin C. Patients with diabetes may consume a moderate amount of peaches if their blood glucose levels are well-controlled, as this can help replenish the body’s required vitamin C. However, if blood glucose levels are unstable or fluctuating, peach consumption is not recommended. Diabetic patients should generally control portion sizes at each meal and include more vitamin C–rich fruits or vegetables—such as carrots or tomatoes—in their diet.
