What Should Pregnant Women Do for Bloating and Belching?
Disease description:
I am 28 weeks pregnant, and all my prenatal examination results are normal—except that I experience abdominal bloating and frequent burping. What can I do to relieve bloating and burping during pregnancy?
At 28 weeks of gestation, uterine enlargement exerts pressure on the gastrointestinal tract, and hormonal changes during pregnancy affect gastrointestinal digestion and absorption—leading to common symptoms of abdominal distension in pregnant women. Abdominal warm compresses or gentle abdominal massage may be performed to promote gastrointestinal motility. Pregnant women should also engage in moderate physical activity, such as walking accompanied by family members. Dietarily, emphasis should be placed on light, easily digestible, nutrient-rich foods. Foods that cause gas or are difficult to digest—such as legumes and most cruciferous vegetables—should be avoided.
