What is the normal FSH/LH ratio?

Disease description:

We’ve been married for several years but haven’t been able to conceive. Today, we went to the hospital for evaluation and were concerned about possible polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). We underwent the six-item sex hormone panel, which includes the FSH-to-LH ratio. What is the normal FSH-to-LH ratio?

Clinically, the normal reference range for FSH is approximately 5–40 mIU/mL. A subnormal FSH level in a patient suggests possible Sheehan’s syndrome, premature ovarian failure, or primary amenorrhea. The normal reference range for LH is 5–25 mIU/mL; abnormally low LH levels indicate insufficient gonadotropin function. Conversely, concurrently elevated FSH and LH levels suggest ovarian failure.
